Home Sweet Home – where we spend most of our time relaxing and being comfortable. Also every home is a reflection of your personality. And home deco curtains play a complementary part and gels everything together nicely.
Home style curtains can be anyone variety:
Day curtains are light weight and porous to natural light coming through the fabric during the daytime. The fabric is translucent and disperse direct harsh sunlight hitting the windows. Colours include pastel and soothing tones. When dressed up and hung on a window, it creates an image that is soft and flowing to the window treatment. It can be hung as a standalone piece or combined with night curtains.
When deciding on night curtains, one would need to understand its purpose. They are usually heavy and reasonably thick, so as to be able to block out light from passing through. Unlike day curtains, night curtains can be used during the day as well. Advantages of night curtains include; giving yourself total privacy from the outside and creating a conducive dark room during the day – ideal for watching movies or taking a nap.
Sheer curtains allow the slightest amount of light to come through and it offers the least privacy. It also portrays a dreamy atmosphere and soften the window frames. To be able to switch from the ‘least privacy’ to ‘complete privacy’, sheer curtains could be paired with night curtains or something opaque.
“Classic” usually refers to anything in style or design that has stood the test of time, still looks good and never goes out of style.
Classic curtains fall into the category. You will however, need some depth of knowledge to be able to find such a classic design in curtains. Creating a classic feel is not that difficult, you’ll need to balance of accents in the room.
Drapes are heavy and thick. Because of the thickness in the fabric, it can make the room look heavy in deco and make the room look small. Best way to complement a room with drapes would be to hang it from ceiling level and touch the floor. It’s not advisable for homes with low ceiling. Drapes are also able to block out the heat from coming through and keep the room reasonably cool.
Eyelet curtains are considered contemporary. It’s hung across the window height with a horizontal pole pulled through metal rings pressed into the top of the curtain. Ideally, it should be of a material of reasonable thickness and flows down nicely to the floor
When the curtains are drawn together, the fabric will create a continuous flowing material with vertical wave like image.
Ripple fold curtains can be mistaken as a hybrid between a normal curtains hung on normal curtain racks (but from the ceiling) and the vertical wave of the eyelet curtains – minus the mental pole and rings.
For Ripple fold curtains to show its profile in streamline design, the material has to be reasonably heavy and fall just below the floor level.
